INDIANAPOLIS-- It was just before midnight on July 11 when Robert Parker of Indianapolis stopped at the gas station to pick up cigarettes. While at the register, the number eight on the Hoosier Lottery display caught his eye. He decided to buy that ticket, Max a Million, because he was born on the eighth. That decision won him $1 million.
“I bet on myself because you don’t let yourself down,” said Parker.
Parker walked out to the parking lot of the Gas America at 516 West Main Street in Westfield where he purchased the ticket and scratched it in his truck. He immediately walked back in to show the store clerk.
“I told him (the clerk) ‘I just want you to know I’ll be back to see you,’” telling the clerk of his $1 million win. “He almost passed out.”
Parker, owner of Indianapolis area Parker Machinery, plans to spend the money on family or give it to his family.
“I’m a happy camper,” he said. “Life has been good. It is very, very rewarding.
