RALEIGH COUNTY RESIDENT WINS $25,000 INSTANT PRIZE

Harold Hughart, 57, of Canvas (Nicholas County) claimed a $25,000 top cash prize from the West Virginia Lottery's instant game "Enchanted Cash," at the Lottery's office in Charleston on July 7.
Disabled, Hughart was electrocuted in the mines in 1985. Hughart considers himself lucky to be alive, as he was unresponsive for 20 minutes after the accident.
Between them, he and his wife Sharon have seven children and eight grandchildren. Hughart says they have put part of the money in the bank and will use the rest for bills. "We're on a fixed income, so we only buy six to eight tickets a year just for fun, certainly not expecting to win much. This has to be sheer luck -- or divine providence."
The winning ticket was bought at Patty's Gateway in Summersville.
