NORTH CAROLINA WOMAN COMES TO VIRGINIA AND WINS $100,000

Driving a car may be expensive these days. But Venessa Bryant-McGee of Elizabeth City, North Carolina recently drove to Virginia and went home $100,000 richer. She had a ticket that matched all five numbers in the Virginia Lottery’s Cash 5 game.
Ms. McGee, who said she is a regular Virginia Lottery player, won the prize in the June 29, 2008, Cash 5 night drawing. Actually, it was her father who purchased the ticket while she was out of town. She later asked her father to check the winning numbers. That’s when they both discovered that her ticket had won.
“I think he almost had a heart attack!” she told Lottery officials. “I couldn’t sleep last night.”
She bought the ticket at the 7-Eleven at 4500 South Battlefield Road in Chesapeake. The winning numbers were 2-4-15-16-29. She used the Easy Pick function, allowing the computer to randomly select the numbers on her ticket.
Ms. Mcgee works with mentally challenged adults. She says she intends to use her winnings to pay debts.
Cash 5 drawings are held daily at 1:59 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. The chances of winning the $100,000 top prize are 1 in 278,256.
