SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL WINS $277,669

SACRAMENTO – California Lottery player Matthew Schulenburg spent the long holiday weekend wondering if he really did win more than $250,000 in the latest MEGA Millions draw.
“I told my wife we had won,” Schulenburg explained to Lottery officials, “but she didn’t believe me.” Schulenburg had doubts himself. He first scanned his ticket at a local Circle K in Apple Valley, north of San Bernardino. He was in disbelief he said so he drove home and checked the numbers on the Lottery’s Web site and even watched the taping of the draw on the Internet.
Schulenburg had one of three tickets bought in California for the July 4 draw that hit the first five numbers and then missed the Mega number. All three of the tickets are each worth $277,669. The other two tickets were purchased in Santa Rosa and Shasta Lake. No one won the grand prize requiring a player to hit all six numbers. The next MEGA Millions jackpot is tomorrow night and is worth $64 million.
“We haven’t talked about what we might do with the money,” said Schulenburg, “but a vacation is a sure thing.” Schulenburg is a principal at a local high school. The numbers he plays for MEGA Millions and SuperLOTTO Plus® are all birthdates of family members.
