A FINICKY CAT CAUSES LYNCHBURG WOMAN TO WIN $100,000

Elizabeth Johnson of Lynchburg can thank her cat for helping her win the top prize of $100,000 in the Virginia Lottery’s $100,000 Casino Action Scratcher game. It all happened because the finicky feline didn’t like the cat food Ms. Johnson had purchased. So she went to the Kroger at 3412 Waterlick Road in Lynchburg to buy six cans of cat food and two Virginia Lottery tickets.
She then took them all home for some scratching – by her husband, not the cat.
When she and her husband realized the ticket was a top prize winner, “I was just dancing around and hollering and screaming.” The cat, however, was not impressed.
Ms. Johnson, who is a retired typesetter, said she intends to use her winnings to purchase a new stove.
$100,000 Casino Action is one of more than 50 Scratcher games offered by the Virginia Lottery. It features prizes ranging from $5 all the way up to $100,000. Ms. Johnson is the second top winner in this game, which means there is still one $100,000 ticket out there.
