RALEIGH - How would you feel if you won $1 million? Like a lot of North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) players, Ashwani Kumar of Charlotte says he was shocked!
Kumar purchased two “$100 Million Cash Spectacular” tickets from Kings Mart on Hickory Grove Road in Gastonia. The second ticket revealed the top $1 million prize.
Kumar is the NCEL’s ninth $1 million winner from the “$100 Million Cash Spectacular” game. He has received his first annuity payment of $50,000 minus taxes and will receive payments once a year for the next 19 years. There is one more $1 million prize available in the “$100 Million Cash Spectacular” game along with tens of thousands of other prizes.
In the July 2 Powerball drawing, one ticket matched four out of five white balls plus the Powerball and is worth $10,000. The ticket was sold at NuGo Convenience Mart & Grill on Prospect Street in High Point.
A total of 42,690 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in last night’s drawing, ranging from $10,000 down to $3 for a total payout in prizes worth $449,162. A ticket in Oklahoma matched all five white balls and the Powerball in last night’s drawing to win the $84.9 million jackpot prize, so the jackpot for the Saturday, July 5, drawing is an estimated $15 million.
The NCEL has paid out more than $3.5 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Tuesday, July 1. Also since Tuesday, “Carolina Cash 5” players have won $569,000 and “Carolina Pick 3” players have won more than $62,000 in prizes.
