Priscilla Balasa of Aurora recently won $10,000 playing Powerball from the Nebraska Lottery.
Balasa is a regular Nebraska Lottery player who purchases Powerball tickets every week. For the May 31 drawing, she purchased a three-play multi-draw ticket at Casey's General Store, 310 16th Street in Aurora. One play on the ticket matched four of the five winning white ball numbers (3, 9,14,17,25) and the Powerball number (8) for a corresponding prize of $10,000.
While claiming her prize, Balasa told Nebraska Lottery officials that she learned she had won her Powerball prize after checking her tickets at a Nebraska Lottery retailer. She stated that she “cried happy tears” after realizing that she had won $10,000. Balasa plans to pay bills and take a vacation using her winnings.
One hundred and eighty-six Nebraska Lottery players have won the $10,000 prize in Powerball to date. The odds of winning $10,000 playing Powerball are 1 in 584,432, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 36.61.
