June 19, 2008
Leo Vance Jr. likes to buy new instant tickets on the first day the games hit the stores. His punctuality rewarded him with a $1 million when he became the first grand prize winner in Wild Millions, the newest game from the Massachusetts State Lottery.
Vance received his first of 20 annuity checks for $50,000 before taxes today at Lottery headquarters in Braintree. The Chicopee residents said he plans on investing his winnings.
He bought the lucky ticket at Westover Supermart in Chicopee. The store will receive a $10 commission on the sale.
Wild Millions, a $5 instant game, features 10 instant prizes of $1 million. Overall, there are more than 6 million winning tickets in the game.
