GREENSVILLE COUNTY MAN IS FIRST $10,000 DODGE BALL WINNER
June 4, 2008
George Lee of Skippers didn’t match any of the numbers on his ticket. In most lottery games, that would not be a good thing. But Mr. Lee was playing the Virginia Lottery’s new Dodge Ball game. By not matching any numbers, he became the first player to win the game’s top prize of $10,000.

“It feels great,” he told Lottery officials when he claimed his prize. “With gas prices and everything so high, it comes in handy.”

Mr. Lee purchased three tickets at Red Barn Food, located at 1539 Skippers Road in Emporia. One of those tickets won $3. Another won $10,000.

Dodge Ball is the newest game from the Virginia Lottery. There is no scratching or playslip required. Tickets are generated by the terminal at Virginia Lottery retailers. Players can win instantly.

Each $2 ticket contains the numbers of 10 “players” and 20 “balls.” If a ball has the same number as one of the players, that player is out. If you don’t match any numbers and all 10 players remain, you win the top prize of $10,000. If nine players remain, you win $600. Eight players remaining win $36; seven players win $6 and six players win $3.
