RALEIGH - Elizabeth Vidal of Winston-Salem had a birthday to remember last week. She bought a “Triple Money Mania” instant scratch-off ticket for herself and won $150,000!
Vidal says she has played instant scratch-off games before, but that this was the first time she had bought “Triple Money Mania.” She says she scratched off the ticket while sitting in her truck. When she realized she had won the top prize, she says she ran back into the store, screaming with excitement. Vidal plans to use her winnings to buy a new home for her family. She purchased her winning ticket at Kelly’s on Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem.
Raymond Allen of Virginia Beach says he “had a feeling” when he bought a “Carolina Cash 5” ticket for the May 24 drawing. His ticket ended up matching all five white balls to win the top prize of $106,057!
Allen says he will use the money for a down payment on a home and to pay bills. He also plans to save some of the money and contribute to a ministry to help people in need. Allen purchased his winning ticket at Family Foods of Corapeake on N.C. 32 North in Corapeake.
In the Saturday, May 31, Powerball drawing, one ticket matched all five white balls and is worth $200,000. The ticket was sold at Robinhood Tobacco on Robinhood Road in Winston-Salem.
Two tickets in Saturday night’s drawing matched four out of five white balls and the Powerball. The normal payout for this combination is $10,000; however, one ticket was Power Played and is worth $40,000 since the Power Play number for Saturday night’s drawing was 4. This ticket was sold at Food Lion on North Main Street in Fuquay-Varina. The other ticket matching four out of five white balls and the Powerball was not Power Played and is worth $10,000. This ticket was sold at Pan’s Market on Hope Mills Road in Fayetteville.
A total of 44,702 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in Saturday night’s drawing, ranging from $200,000 down to $3 for a total payout in prizes worth $714,495. One ticket in Louisiana matched all five white balls and the Powerball to win the jackpot, so the Powerball jackpot for the Wednesday, June 4, Powerball drawing is now $15 million.
In the Wednesday, May 28, Powerball drawing, a total of 35,608 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes, ranging from $10,000 down to $3 for a total payout in prizes worth $228,616. One ticket matched four out of five white balls and the Powerball and is worth $10,000. This ticket was sold at Renegade Tobacco Store on Farmington Road in Mocksville.
The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) has paid out more than $8.5 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Tuesday, May 27. Also since Tuesday, “Carolina Cash 5” players have won more than $241,000 and “Carolina Pick 3” players have won more than $2.45 million in prizes.
