WICHITA RESIDENT STARTS WEEKEND WINNING $25,000

TOPEKA, KAN. – Nancy Beebe had a winning start to her weekend this morning when she stopped at a local convenience store to purchase lottery tickets. The Wichita resident purchased one $10 game, a $5 Super Red Hot Crossword and a $5 Decade of Dollars instant scratch ticket. She was thrilled when she discovered she had won a $25,000 top prize playing Decades of Dollars.
“I scratched my tickets in the parking lot of the store,” said Beebe. “I didn’t even take my ticket back into the store to have them check it. I called my oldest daughter instead, but she didn’t answer her phone.”
Beebe was so excited about her win she drove to her husband Lloyd’s work, so she could show him the winning ticket.
“I’m really happy,” said Lloyd. “We plan to give both of our daughters $1,000.”
According to Beebe, she likes to play instant scratch tickets on pay days.
“When I have a few extra dollars, I like to play,” said Beebe. “I’ve won $500 a couple of times playing Crossword.”
The Beebes, who have been married 25 years, have two teenage daughters. After giving each daughter $1,000, they plan to pay bills with the rest of their prize money.
The winning ticket was purchased at KC Gas & Grocery 3, located at 1955 S. Washington in Wichita.
