ATLANTA – A nursing student is amazed at winning the lottery. Saima Virani, 30, was randomly selected in the May 23 Georgia's Millionaire Club drawing, winning $5,000 along with a chance to win $10 million.
Virani was vacationing with her husband, Nazir, the week of the televised drawing. A day after returning from her vacation, she received a call from a Georgia Lottery representative, who shared the good news.
Georgia's Millionaire Club weekly drawings are held in conjunction with the instant game Georgia's $500 Million Club. Each weekly Georgia's Millionaire Club winner will receive $5,000 and become a finalist in the Extra Chance $10 Million Grand Prize Drawing.
"I'm excited," the Odessa, Fla., resident exclaimed. "I'm waiting for the big win."
Virani is a nursing student at Pasco-Hernando Community College in New Port Richey, Fla., and she anticipates graduating in July. Virani also is a convenience store owner. She has no immediate plans for her winnings.
