CINCINNATI… A resident of Cleves is touting her purchase of a winning Ohio Lottery instant game ticket as all about luck. Wendi L. Moody won an $18,888 top prize after she purchased five of the $2 Electric 8’s. She filed a claim yesterday in the Cincinnati regional office.
“You know times are hard,” she said. “I really had no business buying those tickets but I bought them anyway, and I was glad that I did. I bought them trying to win some money.
And she did! After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 31 percent, Moody will receive $13,032. She said she would buy herself a nice car, not a new one and go to Virginia Beach where her family lives.
Moody purchased the winner from Cleves BP, 21 W. State Street in Cleves. Electric 8’s began selling 2/29/08. There were 30 top prizes of $18,888, eleven have been paid.
Moody was certainly in an “electrifying mood” when she said, “Don’t ever think you can never win. I got lucky and that’s what it’s all about.”
