Mundelein, IL – Angela Chiero-Osborne thinks that her Irish roots help explain her incredibly good luck. The Mundelein resident’s scientific approach to ticket selection might better explain her two separate $100,000 Lottery wins in the last three years.
An everyday Lottery player for 20 years, Angela has developed a sharp eye for picking instant tickets. For instance, after winning from a particular ticket, Angela waits – sometimes for days – before playing the same game at the same retail location, believing that sequential tickets won’t produce multiple winners.
Luckily, when Angela recently redeemed a $10 Holiday Bingo winner, a cell phone call distracted her. Forgetting her own rule, she asked for two more Holiday Bingo tickets in addition to two crossword games, which Angela likes because of the involved gameplay. “I always feel like I get my money’s worth with the crossword games,” she said, “even if I don’t win.”
Angela certainly got her money’s worth – and then some. When she ended her phone call, she scratched off her tickets in the car before leaving the gas station. After the crossword games gave Angela her money’s worth in fun, and five dollars in winnings, she scratched off the Holiday Bingo tickets that she only bought because of the distracting cell phone call. “The first ticket wasn’t a winner,” Angela said, “but when I started scratching off the second ticket, I saw I was going to win. I expected maybe $75.”
As it turned out, Angela won considerably more than expected -- $99,925 more, to be exact. In reaction to her second six-figure Lottery win since 2005, Angela said she “went into shock and started shaking. I ran back into the gas station and had the attendant call my husband because I was so excited that I couldn’t get the words out.” To settle her nerves, Angela played a $250 Million Millionaire’s Club instant ticket while waiting for the clerk to get her a claim form for her massive win. This fifth ticket resulted in another $50 for Angela to add to her best-ever day playing Lottery.
Angela plans on using her winnings to pay bills, buy a new car and finance a family trip with her husband and three young sons.
Mundelein Mini Mart, located at 301 Townliner Rd. in Mundelein, Ill., will receive a bonus of 1 percent of the total winnings, or $1,000, for selling the winning ticket.
