FREE GAS FOR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND?
May 21, 2008
OLYMPIA— Washingtonians getting out of town this holiday weekend are getting a chance to put TEN gallons of gas in their tanks--for FREE! This Friday morning, May 23, motorists lining up at three popular Safeway Fuel Centers will get to pump ten (10) gallons of free regular unleaded or diesel gas into their tanks with the purchase of a $10 Mega Millions Quick Pick ticket purchased that day at the same location.
“Gas prices are over the top right now, so we decided to give customers a smile when they buy Mega Millions—which is the game with over-the-top Jackpots,” says Christopher Liu, Director of Washington’s Lottery. “Going into the Memorial Day weekend, with gas prices high and the Mega Millions Jackpot even higher, we hope to fuel some dreams—or at least a good holiday weekend.”
Washington’s Lottery will welcome its Mega Millions players at specific Safeway Fuel Centers in Auburn, Spokane and Kennewick (unleaded only at Kennewick location) on Friday morning at 6:00 AM. The promotion is limited to the first 200 cars at each location, so customers are expected to line up early. To receive the 10 gallons of gas, all customers have to do is be one of the first 200 customers in line at 6:00 am at one of the three locations on May 23, purchase a $10 Quick Pick Mega Millions ticket from the participating Safeway Fuel Center, then follow instructions outside at the pumps.
With gas prices at record highs – and climbing – organizers are expecting customers to line up hours prior to the official starting time – and some may even camp out overnight.
