LOYAL MEGABUCKS PLAYER WINS HUGE JACKPOT

Roger J. Beauregard started playing Megabucks when the Massachusetts State Lottery introduced the game in 1982. He has religiously played the birthdates of his family members over more than a quarter century of drawings. His dedication was rewarded on May 10th when he matched all six numbers and won $1,471,119.
Beauregard received his first check for more than $84,000 today at Lottery headquarters. He will receive another 19 annuity checks.
He bought the lucky ticket at RD’s Delicatessen on Franklin Street in Melrose. The store will receive a commission of more than $14,000 on the sale.
Megabucks drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday and aired on Channel 5 WCVB-TV at 11:20 p.m. Players select six numbers from a field of 42 and win a prize for matching a minimum of three numbers.
