HURLOCK WOMAN GETS BIG GIFT AND HUG WIN ON MOTHER’S DAY

(Baltimore) – Each year, when one of Ethel Woolford’s four children asks her what would she like for Mother’s Day, her reply is always, “Buy me some scratch-offs.” This year’s gift was no different from the rest, until she scratched one of the tickets and found out she won $30,000 playing Blackout Bingo.
Aretha, her youngest daughter who escorted her to Lottery Headquarters in Baltimore, purchased two tickets of her mother’s favorite scratch-off to give as a Mother’s Day present. “I don’t need much for a gift because I already have everything,” said Ethel. After eating the special dinner her four children prepared for her that evening, she decided to scratch her tickets and she discovered she won the top prize of $30,000 on one of them. “I thought they would have to take me to the hospital,” said Ethel. She then gave the ticket to Aretha to verify that it was a winner.
The 69-year-old retired from B & G Foods, Inc. in 2005 after working there for 19 years. She and her husband, Albert, will celebrate 45 year of marriage in July. They are the grandparents of 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
The lucky winner plans to use her money towards fixing up her home. The winning ticket was purchased at the Hurlock Goose Creek at 105 Delaware Ave. in Dorchester.
