RALEIGH - Nine work associates from four different states bought a Powerball ticket together for the April 30 drawing and won $200,000! Their ticket matched all five white balls and was purchased at Accel on West Plaza Drive in Mooresville.

Ron Snow of Mount Airy bought a “Carolina Cash 5” ticket for the Monday, May 5, drawing hoping to win the $102,661 top prize. The day after the drawing, he left work for his lunch hour and realized he hadn’t checked the winning numbers yet. He logged onto his computer at home and couldn’t believe what he saw—all five numbers on his ticket matched the five numbers drawn, winning him the $102,661 top prize!
Snow says he was elated, yet in disbelief that he’d won. He says he checked the numbers multiple times—both online, and by calling the North Carolina Education Lottery’s (NCEL’s) Greensboro claims office—before driving to the NCEL Headquarters in Raleigh later that day to claim his prize.
Snow says he will use the money to remodel his home, buy new golf clubs and travel. He purchased his winning ticket at the Family Fare on Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem.
Two Powerball tickets for the May 7 drawing matched four out of five white balls plus the Powerball, and are worth $10,000 each. These tickets were sold at Pinetops Shell Mart on West Hamlet Street in Pinetops and Kangaroo Express on Kernersville Road in Kernersville.
