RALEIGH - Lottie Wells of Buffalo Junction, Virginia (near the North Carolina state line) bought a “Green and Gold” instant scratch-off ticket on Saturday and won the top prize of $100,000! She says she likes playing the instant games and bought the “Green and Gold” ticket because it was new.
“Green and Gold” was launched May 6 and has four remaining top prizes of $100,000. Wells says she will use her winnings to take her children and grandchildren to Disney World. She purchased her winning ticket at Matthews Grocery on Highway 15 North in Bullock.
One “Carolina Cash 5” ticket matched all five white balls in the May 8 drawing and is worth $102,644. The ticket was sold at Smokers Express on U.S. Highway 15-501 in Southern Pines. The prize has yet to be claimed.
In the May 10 Powerball drawing, five tickets matched four out of five white balls plus the Powerball. The usual prize for this combination is $10,000. Two tickets were Power Played and are worth $20,000 each since the Power Play multiplier for the drawing was 2. These tickets were sold at Food Lion #757 on Raleigh Boulevard in Raleigh and Food Lion #1484 on Wycliff Road in Raleigh.
The other three tickets that matched four out of five white balls plus the Powerball were not Power Played and are worth $10,000 each. These tickets were sold at Food Lion #348 on Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem, Wilco 368 on U.S. Highway 29 North in Concord, and Kerr Drug #329 on South Main Street in Sparta.
A total of 40,169 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in Saturday’s Powerball drawing, ranging from $20,000 down to $3 for a total payout in prizes worth $319,908. No one matched all five white balls plus the Powerball, so the jackpot for the Wednesday, May 14, Powerball drawing is $26 million.
The NCEL has paid out more than $5.1 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Thursday, May 8. Also since Thursday, “Carolina Cash 5” players have won more than $210,000 and “Carolina Pick 3” players have won more than $899,000 in prizes.
