Armand B. Corlew Jr., a letter carrier from Schenectady, N.Y. turned a fishing trip to Massachusetts into a huge payday when he won $1 million playing the $5,000,000 Jackpot game.
Corlew, who was on his annual fishing trip with friends, stopped off at Tony’s Service Station on Essex Avenue in Gloucester to buy supplies. Corlew said he will pay for the entire group to go fishing next year.
Corlew, the 26th player to win $1 million in the game, received his first of 20 annuity payments for $50,000 before taxes today at Lottery headquarters in Braintree. The $10 instant game features 40 instant prizes of $1 million and 10 instant prizes of $5 million.
Tony’s Service Station will receive a $10,000 commission on the sale.
