RALEIGH – Another North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) player is off to the races after winning the top prize in the recent second chance drawing on the NASCAR® themed instant scratch-off ticket. Douglas Mitchell of Danville, Virginia is the third and final winner of a trip to a NASCAR® sanctioned race. Over 400 players received NASCAR® Licensed Prize Packs.
Mitchell purchased his winning ticket at Cluck’s Recreation Center, 11175 Hwy 86 North, Providence (Caswell County). He says he had bought several tickets, entered the drawing and put the tickets away waiting to hear if he may be holding a winner. He added that he recently thought about throwing them away, but decided he should hold onto them a little longer.
It was Mitchell’s wife, Pat, who first got him interested in racing. He is a Jeff Gordon fan while his wife pulls for Dale Earnhardt Jr. The Mitchells will attend an upcoming NASCAR® sanctioned race of their choice.
Their prize consists of a four-day, three-night trip for two to any NASCAR® sanctioned race during the 2008 season. The trip includes airfare, hotel accommodations, transportation to and from the race and spending money.
A total of three trips were awarded in second chance drawings for this game. Daphne George of Waynesville won the first trip and Grace Walter of Wendell won the second trip.
There is still one $100,000 top prize available in the NASCAR® themed instant scratchoff game. The $5 officially licensed NASCAR® instant scratch-off ticket also offers a chance to win lots of other prizes between $10,000 and $100.
