BIRTHDAYS TURN INTO BIG PAY DAY FOR BALTIMORE WOMAN
May 1, 2008
(Baltimore) – The 67-year-old Baltimore woman had no intention of buying any more Lottery tickets when she picked up a Bonus Match 5 and Multi-Match on Tuesday morning. Luckily she changed her mind. “What the heck,” she said. “I thought this will be it.”
She plays the Lottery regularly, always playing a series of family birth dates.
Later that evening she was listening to the drawing broadcast on television. Upon hearing the numbers, she thought that they sounded familiar. She went and found her ticket and checked it. “I was in denial, I thought no way,” she told Lottery officials. She then went to bed and slept soundly. The next day, she checked her ticket once again. Still not believing she won, she took her ticket to the store where she purchased it to have it verified. Finally, when the store clerk got excited, she did as well. Yet, she still didn’t share her good fortune with anyone. In fact, it wasn’t until she and her daughter arrived at Lottery Headquarters to claim her prize that her daughter even became aware of her mom’s big win.
Originally from New York, the retired grandmother-of-three said that she will now continue to play the Lottery, with her game preferences being Pick 3, Pick 4 and Mega Millions. She intends to pay bills with her winnings, do a little shopping and put some away for a rainy day. The winning ticket was purchased at Your Convenience Store, located at 3000 Windsor Ave. in Baltimore.
