FIRST $2 MILLION JACKPOT FOR LOTTO PLUS!
April 16, 2008
NASHVILLE - For the first time, Tennessee Lottery players have a chance to win a jackpot of $2 million by playing the state’s own lotto-style game, LOTTO PLUS.
“With LOTTO PLUS, there are more chances than ever to win big prizes in Tennessee,” said Rebecca Hargrove, President and CEO of the Tennessee Lottery. “By giving players what they like, we will continue to raise more dollars for education in Tennessee.”
Not only did Tuesday night’s LOTTO PLUS drawing create 5,521 winners, but also a jackpot that has climbed to an estimated $2 million for Friday night. LOTTO PLUS, launched on March 9, is the newest drawing-style game from the Tennessee Lottery and gives players their own in-state lotto game with jackpots starting at $1 million. The game has already created a million-dollar winner—Greeneville’s Candy Carr matched all six numbers picked in the first drawing on March 11 to win the starting jackpot of $1 million.
Playing LOTTO PLUS is simple: Players select any six numbers from 1 to 44, or choose Quick Pick to let a computer randomly pick any or all of the numbers. Each play is $1. If 3, 4, 5, or 6 of those numbers are drawn in any order, the player wins. If no ticket matches all six numbers drawn, the jackpot increases a minimum of $100,000 for the next drawing. As with Powerball and Pick 5, if more than one ticket matches all of the numbers drawn, the jackpot will be split among the ticket holders.
LOTTO PLUS also has a Plus Feature, which will multiply any non-jackpot winnings by 2 to 5 times for an extra dollar per play. Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 10 p.m. CT/11 p.m. ET, then broadcast on Lottery partner stations.
