POPULAR TRIPLES DRAWN IN THE DAILY NUMBER MID-DAY GAME

MIDDLETOWN - Pennsylvania Lottery players whose favorite Daily Number is 4-4-4 can count on a little extra money following Sunday’s mid-day drawing.
The payout to Daily Number game players for the April 20 mid-day drawing totaled $1,947,200, more than six times the amount players wagered. A total of 7,850 tickets were sold for the winning number combination. A 50-cent wager on the Daily Number pays $250; a $1 wager pays $500.
Triple fours have been drawn a total of 17 times since The Daily Number drawing began in March 1977. The last time 4-4-4 was drawn was March 29, 2007, in the mid-day draw. The April 18, 2008, mid-day draw is the last time any triples combination, 2-2-2, was drawn. This is the fourth time a triple has been drawn as the winning Daily Number this year, taking into account both mid-day and evening drawings, and the second time triple numbers have been drawn in three days.
Triples have been drawn a total of 148 times – 123 times in the evening drawings and 25 times in the mid-day drawings – since the debut of The Daily Number; 2001 and 2007 are currently tied for the most triples drawn in a year with 10 each.
