$10,000 POWERBALL PRIZE FOR LINCOLN WOMAN

Betty Smith of Lincoln recently won $10,000 playing Powerball from the Nebraska Lottery.
There were more than 19,000 Nebraska Lottery Lotto winners in the Saturday, April 19, drawings. Among these winners was Smith, who purchased a two-play quick pick ticket at Hy-Vee, 5020 North 27th Street in Lincoln. One play on the ticket contained four of the five winning white ball numbers (13, 19, 24, 33, 39) and the Powerball number (8) from the April 19 drawing for a corresponding $10,000 prize.
While claiming her prize on April 21, Smith told Nebraska Lottery officials that he learned she had won the $10,000 prize after checking the winning numbers in the Lincoln Journal Star newspaper. At first, she thought she had won $100. However, the following morning she rechecked the numbers and realized she had won $10,000. Smith plans to pay bills with her winnings.
One hundred and seventy-seven Nebraska Lottery players have won the $10,000 prize in Powerball to date. The odds of winning $10,000 playing Powerball are 1 in 584,432 while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 36.61.
