DENVER RESIDENT WINS $250,000 IN SECOND-CHANCE DRAWING

DENVER – James Perkins is one lucky loser. The Denver resident turned a $10 losing Rooster Riches Scratch ticket into a $250,000 winner by entering the game’s second chance drawing. Perkins was one of thousands who mailed in non-winning tickets for a shot at the $250,000 drawing prize. The landscaper received a message at work about winning the drawing.
"I didn’t believe it!" said an astonished Perkins, who won $21,000 on the Scratch game 7-11-21 almost exactly a year ago.
A regular player of Lottery games, Perkins has also won $1,800 playing Cash 5. He plans to use his latest windfall for a down payment on a home. He may also purchase a computer, so he can register for the Lottery’s second-chance drawings online. The Lottery is moving to an online-only entry system for its second-chance drawings.
The Colorado Lottery holds about 10 second-chance drawings annually on select Scratch games.
