REARRANGEMENT OF GAMING AREAS AT LUDOPLEX QUÉBEC AND LUDOPLEX TROIS-RIVIÈRES
April 18, 2008
Montréal – In order to channel game offerings in a controlled fashion and further reduce the number of video lottery terminals (VLTs) within its network, Loto-Québec is announcing that it will soon be withdrawing some 100 VLTs from the Ludoplex Québec and Ludoplex Trois-Rivières. The Corporation will be replacing these units with Texas Hold'em electronic poker machines.
Under the banner of this initiative, the Société des loteries vidéo du Québec (SLVQ) plans to install six 10-position electronic poker machines at the Ludoplex Québec and four at the Ludoplex Trois-Rivières. Overall game offerings will remain the same at the two establishments because, for the amount of gaming positions corresponding to the projected number of electronic poker machines, there will be an equal number of video lottery terminals withdrawn — 60 in Québec City and 40 in Trois-Rivières. Rather than being redeployed, these VLTs will be completely removed from the network. Moreover, the control and prevention measures currently in effect will continue to be applied to these new units, underlined the SLVQ, which is charged by Loto-Québec to manage the Ludoplex.
This decision was made subsequent to several weeks spent analyzing the expectations of the SLVQ’s clientele and in response to requests from numerous gaming enthusiasts. Highly popular in both Québec City and Trois-Rivières, the arrival of Texas Hold’em electronic poker will serve to enhance the range of entertainment options at the Ludoplex, while assuring the control of game offerings within the province.
Work on rearranging the spaces to be dedicated to the new games is to commence within the coming days.
