A VISIT TO HER GRANDDAUGHTER RESULTS IN $100,000 LOTTERY WIN

Julliette Brooks of Dumfries was “just driving by” when she decided to stop at Five Forks Food Mart in Hopewell. While she was there, she played the Virginia Lottery Scratcher game Big Money. She gave the ticket to her adult granddaughter to scratch. That’s when things got really interesting.
“She said, ‘Grandma, I can’t believe it!’” Ms. Brooks later said. “But she’s always messing with me.”
She wasn’t messing this time. The ticket really was a big winner. It won the game’s top prize of $100,000.
Ms. Brooks later told Lottery officials that she’s never won anything. The retiree said she intends to help family members with her winnings.
Big Money is one of more than 50 Scratcher games offered by the Virginia Lottery. It features prizes ranging from $5 all the way up to $100,000. Ms. Brooks is the first top winner in this game, which means there are still three top-prize-winning Big Money tickets out there.
