QUEEN ANNE MAN'S GOOD KARMA PAYS OFF

OLYMPIA — Seattle resident Randal Chicoine (pronounced Chic – Win), a wholesale bakery owner, has always believed his life has been blessed with good karma. When he swung by his local convenience store on Tuesday night, where he is a regular, he could feel the positive energy.
“The store clerk knows me really well,” Chicoine said, “and he knew I wanted Scratch tickets, particularly Maximum Million. He didn’t have any in the display, but he opened up a new pack for me and I am so glad he did.”
Chicoine arrived home and started to scratch the tickets to see if they were winners.
“I went through and scratched them off slowly and then followed up by checking the amounts of the wins,” Chicoine said. “When I went over them again, I saw dollar signs, then I saw the number one, and then I saw letters and I knew I won the big one. My first thought was, ‘Now I’m going to be able to help so many people!’”
Chicoine attributes his win to positive karma. Because of his generous nature, he finds that things always have a way of coming back to him. He says he plans to be just as giving with this win as he is with everything else in his life.
“I can’t tell you specifically what I plan to do with the money, maybe donate some to Hurricane Katrina relief or to a certain candidate’s election campaign,” Chicoine smiled. “All I know for certain is that I am going to give back to those who need it more than me.”
Tae Kim, owner of Manhattan Deli Express in Queen Anne – where Chicoine purchased his ticket – says he’s glad that Chicoine won the money.
“Randal is just such a good guy,” Kim said. “I’m just so happy for him, he really deserves it.”
Manhattan Deli Express is located at 631 Queen Anne Avenue North in Seattle.
