MONTANA CASH JACKPOT CLAIMED

Michael Songer of Helena has claimed the $190,000 Montana Cash jackpot from the April 2 drawing. Songer bought the winning ticket at Van’s Thriftway in Helena.
Songer went to Van’s Thriftway this morning on his lunch break to check his tickets. He asked Paula Vanderjagt, the owner of Van’s Thriftway, who the jackpot winner was. She replied, “Wasn’t it you?” Songer checked his tickets and couldn’t believe it—the numbers all matched. He told Paula, “You better take a look at this,” and she said, “You’ve got to be kidding me!”
Songer then came straight to Lottery Headquarters to claim the jackpot. He called his wife on the way to tell her the news. “She didn’t believe me,” Mike said. “I almost started crying, and I don’t do that!”
Songer plays all four Lotto games every week, and plays with the same numbers. “I always play the same numbers, and I always buy my tickets at Van’s,” Songer said.
Songer’s mother, Dorothy Jungers, and her friend Myrtle Wiley won a $1.4 million Tri-West Lotto jackpot in March 1996. It was the largest jackpot won in Montana from the Tri-West Lotto game, which was replaced by Wild Card in 1998.
Songer and his wife, Samantha, plan to pay off their house with their winnings.
