Following the $276 million Powerball jackpot prize claimed by eight Monongalia County co-workers, $340,000 has been claimed in top game prizes, according to West Virginia Lottery Director John Musgrave.

Claiming $25,000 from the Lottery’s Cash25 game were Debra Cole of Morgantown from a ticket purchased at Giant Eagle for March 17; Cecil Watson of Morgantown claimed his $25,000 prize from March 7 on a ticket purchased at Smokehouse #31; Ricky Ray of Clarksburg bought a ticket at Butts and Ashes Tobacco winning him $25,000 March 4; and James Moots of Stonewood claimed the Cash25 top prize from a ticket he bought at Speedway for the drawing Feb. 25.

In addition, Musgrave said a $200,000 cash Powerball prize was claimed by Bernice Shuman of Waynesburg, PA from a ticket purchased from 7-Eleven in Blacksville for the March 12 drawing.

Wayne Casuccio of Bruceton Mills claimed a $40,000 prize from the Lottery’s instant game “Extreme 8’s.” The ticket was bought at BFS Foods in his hometown.

Noting that all prizes higher than $600 must be claimed through the Lottery rather than at a lottery retail location, Musgrave said March winners claimed nearly $1 million in person or by mail through the agency’s offices. “And that doesn’t include the $8 million initial payment we gave our Powerball winners,” Musgrave said.

The figure through March 28 includes five $25,0000 “Cash25” winners, seven $10,000 Powerball prizes, one $200,000 Powerball prize, two $40,000 winners from the instant game “Extreme 8’s,” a $20,000 instant game win on “Record Numbers,” and a $50,000 instant win on “Take 5.”
