EDMONDS MAN PLAYS THE SAME SIX NUMBERS FOR YEARS – AND FINALLY WINS!

OLYMPIA — George Rossiter, a 64-year-old retired GTE employee from Edmonds, has been playing the same Lottery numbers for years. Though he admits the numbers have no significance, he was convinced there was something lucky about 02-06-10-33-43-48. His wife never understood, she just knew those numbers weren’t bringing him a fortune anytime soon.
“Oh, you’ll never win with those stupid numbers!” she always said doubtfully. Rossiter didn’t care, he knew luck would come his way, and on St. Patrick’s Day it did! Rossiter was reading the newspaper when he saw something unbelievable. He took off his glasses and looked closer. The numbers on his ticket matched the numbers in the newspaper. Unable to believe his eyes, he grabbed the phone and dialed the Lottery office. Sure enough, Rossiter’s lucky numbers finally paid off with a $2.7 million Lotto Cashpot.
“Right after I found out, I called my wife to tell her we won and she told me that I better not be lying--then hung up!” Rossiter laughed. “I’m pretty sure she still doesn’t believe me!”
Rossiter plans on enjoying his retirement by spending the money on his love of hot rods and vacations to California and Las Vegas.
Rossiter’s not the only one who had faith in his numbers.
“George is one of my regular customers, so we talk all the time. I was rooting for him to win,” said Mohammed, owner of Moe’s Market in Lynnwood where the lucky ticket was purchased. “I always tell him to buy more tickets!”
Mohammed will receive a $27,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. Overwhelmed by the good news, he doesn’t know exactly what he’s going to do with the money, but he knows for sure he plans on sharing some with his staff.
“Everyone’s really excited for George’s win because we all get a bonus!” Mohammed laughed.
