OLYMPIA — Hit 5, the newest draw game from Washington’s Lottery, is celebrating its first year with a record $550,000 Cashpot in its March 29 drawing. The game was introduced last March in response to customer feedback to the Lottery. In those comments, customers said they wanted a game with better odds and more winning tickets throughout the game. As a result, the Lottery retired Quinto and launched Hit 5. The new game is a winning combination:
Since the game’s launch on March 18, 2007, Hit 5 has awarded eight times as many top prizes than was typical of Quinto, the game Hit 5 replaced.
With overall odds of 1:9 and Cashpots starting at $100,000, Hit 5 has become a popular – and lucrative – game for many Lottery players. Hit 5 has paid out more than $10 million in top prizes.
The game’s favorable odds have created twice as many winners of any prize when compared to Quinto.
Hit 5 was created because Lottery customers said they wanted to win more often. The game has averaged a top prize winner about every eight days over the past year.
Cashpots start at $100,000 and average $227,000 in the first year, though many Cashpots are larger.
“Hit 5 has delivered exactly what our customers asked for – more winning experiences,” said Lottery Director Christopher Liu. “Customers appreciate Hit 5 for its better odds and substantial top prizes, and everyone loves that it’s produced an extraordinary number of winners.”
The record $550,000 top prize was won on Saturday, March 29, though the winner has not yet stepped forward. The winning ticket was sold at Riverview Market and Café in Everett, located at 5203 South 2nd Avenue
