LAKE CITY GRANDPA HITS THE LOTTO JACKPOT

OLYMPIA — Tom Witkowski, a 69-year-old retired police officer and serviceman, and his wife Barbara have lived their lives to take care of their children and grandchildren. After a phone call to the Washington's Lottery Winning Numbers Line recently, taking care of his family got a lot easier. Witkowski won a whopping $1.1 million by playing Lotto!
“I called to check my numbers,” Witkowski said. “When the recording said the numbers I thought, ‘Oh no, that can't possibly be right, those are the same as mine!’”
Not believing what he heard, he asked his wife to call and check the numbers again. When he saw the look of shock on her face, he knew he won.
“We're just so excited that I don't think either of us can say anything that makes sense,” Witkowski laughed. “It is just unbelievable, really unbelievable. It's almost too much to wrap my head around.”
While the win may be hard to understand, Witkowski knows exactly what he is going to do with the money.
“I want to get my house in good condition and make life easier for my grandchildren,” Witkowski said. “I want to help provide them with a good life that they very much deserve.”
Witkowski has been playing the same numbers for years, but he attributes the win to his family.
“The numbers don't mean anything, but they were picked a long time ago by my grandchildren,” Witkowski laughed. “So I guess that means it's their money anyway!”
Witkowski purchased his ticket at Safeway located at 12318 15th Ave NE. He matched all six numbers in the March 22 drawing – 01-07-16-29-42-49.
