ROCHESTER REMODELER COLLECTS $1,000,000 LOTTERY PRIZE AT GREATER ROCHESTER HOME SHOW

Schenectady, NY - The New York Lottery today presented 31-year-old Jeremy Goodison, owner of the Spencerport-based Goodison Home Remodeling, Inc., and his wife Jessica, with a New York Lottery prize check valued at $1,000,000. The couple collected the prize in the “Room To Dream” Exhibit space at the Greater Rochester Home Show. The Goodisons won their prize playing the Lottery’s popular $500,000,000 Extravaganza instant game.
Faced with what to do with their unexpected Lottery windfall, Jeremy Goodison said the couple had no shortage of plans for the money.
“Retirement, vacation, college tuition, expanding the business, spending more time with family – it’s all part of the plan,” he said.
When asked if the couple had any dreams they’d like to pursue now that they had a few extra dollars in the bank, Jessica, 29, a stay-at-home-mom for the couple’s three young children, said she would love to record a country music CD.
Jeremy, an avid outdoorsman, said he’d like to break ground on his new hunting lodge. Jeremy Goodison purchased the couple’s winning $500,000,000 Extravaganza instant ticket on March 11, 2008 at the Mobil station on Lake Rd. in Brockport during a “routine coffee stop.” The couple claimed the prize on March 12, 2008 at the Lottery’s Customer Service Center in Rochester.
“I’ve been playing this game for a while thinking I could win big on a big ticket,” he said.
Jessica Goodison said she rarely buys Lottery tickets; relying instead on her husband’s good fortune.
“I always told him if he ever won big, I would get half,” she said.
As luck would have it, the Goodisons opted to split the $1,000,000 top prize. Each will receive 20 annual payments of $25,000, less required tax withholdings. The final check amount for each will total $17,037.
