COFFEYVILLE RESIDENT WINS $20,000 TOP PRIZE

TOPEKA, KAN. – Every day before going to work, Timothy Wilkison stops at a convenience store and purchases $2 Bonus Crossword tickets to play while he’s on break. Yesterday afternoon was no exception. The Coffeyville resident, who works second shift at Sherwin-Williams, purchased six Bonus Crossword tickets, winning a $20,000 top prize by revealing 10 words on the second ticket he scratched.
“I was surprised,” said Wilkison. “I’ve won several $100 prizes and two $500 prizes but never expected this.”
After realizing he’d won, he called his girlfriend Arlene.
“She didn’t believe me,” said Wilkison. “So I took a picture of my ticket with my camera that’s on my cell phone and sent it to her by email. She called me back and said, ‘You did get 10 words!”
According to Wilkison, he never let the ticket get out of his sight.
“I kept my ticket with me at all times,” said Wilkison. “I only told a couple of people at work but by the time my shift ended everyone knew.”
Wilkison plans to remodel his kitchen and purchase a newer truck with his prize money.
The winning ticket was purchased at Kabredlo’s Cenex 255, located at 1311 W. 11th St., in Coffeyville.
