Greeneville’s Candy Carr is ready to get some rest. It’s no wonder, since she didn’t sleep for 24 hours after learning she was the first $1 million jackpot winner in LOTTO PLUS, the newest game from the Tennessee Lottery.
“This couldn’t have come at a better time,” said Candy. “It will help out so much.”
Candy, along with her husband William, her son William, his wife Shasta and her 10-month-old grandson, Kasen, came to the Lottery’s Nashville headquarters on Friday to claim their prize. Candy’s win came after the very first drawing held for LOTTO PLUS, which was launched just this past Sunday. Her husband, who purchased the ticket at North Main Grocery in Greeneville, gave her the ticket because he thinks he isn’t lucky.
”I guess my luck changed!” he said.
LOTTO PLUS is the Lottery’s newest drawing-style game. Playing is simple: Players select any six numbers from 1 to 44, or choose Quick Pick to let a computer randomly pick any or all of the numbers. Each play is $1. If 3, 4, 5, or 6 of those numbers are drawn in any order, the player wins. If no ticket matches all six numbers drawn, the jackpot increases a minimum of $100,000 for the next drawing. Drawings are held at 10 p.m. CT/ 11 p.m. ET on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Candy and William plan to use the winnings to help their family in a variety of ways.
