BURNABY WOMAN GETS LIFE - MILLIONAIRE LIFE!
March 4, 2008
Richmond, B.C., – British Columbia Lottery Corporation is pleased to announce the top prize winner of this year's Millionaire Life lottery is Angela Towle of Burnaby, B.C. The 38-year-old consultant and her long-time boyfriend, Jason MacNutt, collected the enormous prize cheque at a media event in downtown Vancouver today.
Angela, who decided to take the lump sum of $17 million instead of $1 million a year for 25 years, walked away with one of the largest lottery prizes in B.C. history.
"Before this, the largest prize I had ever won was a Tears For Fears album from a radio station in 1985!" joked Angela, who purchased her Millionaire Life ticket after seeing the commercial on TV.
Angela checked her numbers on bclc.com and, at first, didn't bother to check the top prize numbers thinking she didn't have a chance. Then, when she saw the winning ticket was purchased in Burnaby, she decided to see if, just maybe, she had a winner.
When Angela saw her number matched the top prize, she started yelling at the top of her lungs and pacing around her apartment. Once she regained her composure, she called her parents and went to visit the retailer where she purchased her ticket (PriceSmart Foods on Marine Way in Burnaby). After her retailer confirmed her win, she visited her boyfriend place of employment to share the big news. He was equally ecstatic about the win.
Angela confessed she had spent many nights dreaming about how she would spend the money if she ever won a jackpot. She plans to spend her money sensibly, investing a large portion of it and sharing some with her relatives. She also intends on moving back to Nova Scotia to start a dog breeding business with her boyfriend. On top of that, she wants to use her newfound free time to pursue her love of writing and traveling.
"I've always dreamed of seeing the pyramids in Egypt and now I'm going to go!" laughed Angela.
