PUYALLUP WOMAN LANDS A MEGA WIN

OLYMPIA— Christy Johnson, a 37-year-old nurse and mother of two, is in high spirits after winning $250,000! Johnson purchases Mega Millions tickets occasionally when the Jackpot gets big, but never imagined her big day would come. A trip to Fred Meyer changed that.
“My husband and I saw the Mega MillionsJackpot was getting big so we figured we’d buy a ticket,” Johnson laughed. “We checked the ticket later and the attendant said ‘You won!’ She handed me a receipt with the prize printed on it, but I couldn’t comprehend all the zeros – I thought it said $250.”
Johnson said both she and her husband needed to be convinced of their win.
“She kept saying, ‘No you won $250,000, not $250!’ But it still didn’t seem real until I went to the Lottery office.”
Johnson doesn’t anticipate any huge splurges and plans on spending time just thinking about what she’d like to do with the winnings.
Johnson matched five out of six numbers in the February 22 Mega Millions drawing to win the $250,000 second tier prize. She matched numbers 07-12-13-19-22, only missing the number 10 Mega Ball. Her ticket was purchased at Fred Meyer located on 1100 North Meridian in Puyallup. For its efforts, Fred Meyer will receive a $2,500 retail selling bonus for selling the winning ticket.
