DREAMS DO COME TRUE
March 11, 2008
OLYMPIA-- Jay Hughes, a 47-year-old Edmonds resident is thrilled he can buy his dream RV after winning $250,000 in Mega Millions. As part of his daily routine, Hughes purchased a newspaper at 7-Eleven and headed home. While glancing through the paper, he saw the Lottery numbers and remembered he had purchased a Mega Millionsticket a few days before. He compared his ticket numbers with the paper and the news was so good, it hurt.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes! I kept looking back and forth. I was so excited I started banging my head on the table!” laughed Hughes.
After the pain subsided, Hughes shared the good news with his mom who immediately called the entire family.
Hughes, a labor worker, has been dreaming about riding off into the sunset in a new RV for years.
“I’m bouncing off the wall with excitement,” Hughes smiled. “I can finally afford the RV of my dreams.”
Hughes plays the Lottery occasionally and has never won more than $30.
“I dreamt all the time I would become a big winner,” said Hughes. “It really shows you that dreams actually do come true.”
Hughes matched five out of six numbers in the March 4 Mega Millions drawing to win the $250,000 second tier prize. He matched numbers 07-15-30-33-56, only missing the number 22 Mega Ball. His ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven on 238thSt in Edmonds.
