Boise – Idaho Lottery officials confirmed the location of the two winning Powerball tickets worth $200,000 each that were sold for the Saturday, February 16, 2008 draw.
One of the tickets matching all five numbers but not the Powerball was sold in Boise. No one has contacted the Lottery or come forward to claim that prize.
The second winning ticket was sold in Malad City near the Idaho - Utah border. This is the third $200,000 winning ticket from Malad City in the past month. The winning numbers from Saturday night were 03, 04, 08, 20, 49 and the Powerball was 18.
“Malad City has had an incredible string of good luck,” stated Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery Director. “We are encouraging everyone who has purchased a Powerball ticket recently to check their numbers carefully. Too often people think they do not have a winning ticket if they did not match the Powerball number itself and in this case, the winning ticket matched every number but the Powerball."
Two of the three $200,000 winning tickets from Malad City have been claimed. One of the two winners from Saturday night was claimed Tuesday, February 19, 2008 by Lisa Zhang of Sandy, Utah. Her winning ticket came from Critters Lounge in Malad City. The first winning ticket, sold for the January 16, 2008 draw was won by Donna Warr of West Jordan, Utah who bought her ticket at Kwik Stop in Malad City. Due to poor weather and road conditions in January, she and her husband waited almost a month before they claimed their winnings from Lottery headquarters in Boise on Monday, February 11, 2008. The third $200,000 ticket, which remains unclaimed, was for the January 26, 2008 draw.
One ticket from Rathdrum, sold for the December 16, 2007 draw worth $600,000 also has not been claimed. That ticket also matched all five numbers but not the Powerball and had the PowerPlay multiplier of 3, turning a $200,000 winner into a $600,000 winning ticket. That ticket will expire on June 12, 2008.
All total, the Idaho Lottery currently has $1,000,000 in unclaimed, high-tier, Powerball winnings.
The jackpot for Wednesday’s night draw is an estimated $100,000,000.
