LOTO-QUÉBEC ASKS TO BE HEARD BY THE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC FINANCES

Montréal – Believing that the time is right for a full and frank exchange with parliamentarians concerning the orientation, activities, management and social concerns of Loto-Québec, president Alain Cousineau has sent a formal request to that end to the Chair of the Committee on Public Finances, Mr. Alain Paquet.
“As was the case in 1995 and in 2000, Loto-Québec would like the opportunity to review its activities within the framework of a parliamentary committee,” wrote Mr. Cousineau. “The moment seems particularly appropriate inasmuch as we are currently finalizing our 2008-2011 Development Plan in a context where we sense some degree of dissonance within the social consensus that has fostered the development of Loto-Québec for close to 38 years,” Mr. Cousineau added.
In the letter sent to the Member for Laval-des-Rapides and Chair of the Committee, Loto-Québec affirmed its conviction that this opportunity would be of benefit both to parliamentarians and average citizens, since it would provide for a better understanding of the everyday reality of the corporation’s operations.
