Luis Gordillo of Providence claimed the $200,000 winning ticket sold in Rhode Island for last night’s PowerBall® drawing.
Luis seldom plays the Lottery, but purchased the ticket when he stopped by the Jefferson Global at 15 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick, on the way to pick up a friend whose car had broken down earlier that day.
That ticket matched the first five numbers, but not the PowerBall number. The standard payout for this type of win is $200,000. However, if Luis had opted to purchase the Power Play® feature for an additional dollar on the wager, his $200,000 prize would have been multiplied by four, Wednesday’s Power Play® number, to equal $800,000.
Saturday’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $83 million.
