There was an abundance of large Rhode Island Lottery winners last week. Late Friday afternoon, a Harrisville couple claimed a $75,000 winning Pinball Wizard Instant Game. The husband had purchased the ticket as a 44th wedding anniversary gift for his wife from the Cumberland Farms at 302 North Main St., Slatersville.
Thursday night, Wild Money, Rhode Island’s own progressive jackpot game, made a Bristol man $104,677 richer. He purchased the winning ticket from the A&J Seabra Supermarket at 1150 Hope St., Bristol. The winner’s son is a lawyer and plans to offer advice on where to invest the prize money, but not before his father does some early Christmas shopping for the family.
Also, in Wednesday’s PowerBall® drawing, there was a $20,000 winning ticket sold in Rhode Island. The ticket matched 4 numbers and the PowerBall number. The standard payout for this type of win is $10,000. However, this player opted to purchase the Power Play® feature for an additional dollar on the wager, so the $10,000 prize was multiplied by 2, last Wednesday’s Power Play® number, to equal $20,000. The winning ticket was purchased by a Johnston woman from the Convenience Plus at 1501 Atwood Ave., Johnston.
In addition to these three prizes, seven other big Rhode Island Lottery tickets were claimed last week, bringing the grand total to $518,757 in high tier prizes redeemed in just four days.
The week of big winners was followed up by two $10,000 winning tickets sold in Rhode Island for Saturday night’s $106.7 million PowerBall® drawing. The winning tickets were purchased from Mac’s Liquor Mart in Smithfield and Atwells Mini Mart in Providence. Both $10,000 prizes have yet to be claimed. Wednesday’s estimated PowerBall® jackpot is $120 million.
