Washington, D.C. – DC-4 is the D.C. Lottery and Charitable Games Control Board’s most popular game, and for the winning mid-day drawing on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, there were 700 tickets that matched the winning number - 5555. Players rushed to the agency’s Claim Center located at 2000 14th Street, N.W. to claim their prizes before 4:30 p.m.; however, more than 250 winners were on-site the next day to pick up their cash prize.
“I couldn’t believe that I had finally won,” says Samuel Mingo, Jr. of Cottage City, Maryland, who was the biggest winner of the day. With 12 winning tickets worth $5,000 each, the self-employed construction worker won $60,000. His winning strategy: “I used my address. I always use my address.” Mingo also says that he enjoys playing DC Lucky Numbers™ and POWERBALL®, yet, DC-4 is his favorite game. Mingo plans to develop his construction company with his prize.
Most of the winners won up to $2,500 and some $5,000 won but there were several big winners: William Redd of Fort Washington, MD, who won $20,000 says, “Eight of my coworkers also played DC-4. They all won, but I got the big win!” And, Shirley Pittman of Washington, D.C., who also won $20,000 says, “I couldn’t believe it. I had to check my ticket a bunch of times!”
