A northeast Iowa woman claimed a big prize this week playing one of her favorite scratch games.
Joleen Bruce of Waukon claimed the 12th of 35 prizes of $10,000 available in the lottery's "The BIG Ticket" scratch game. She said she bought her winning ticket Friday at Casey's, 516 Rossville Road in Waukon and scratched it off that night with her husband.
"We share, so I did half and then my husband did the other half," Bruce told lottery employees Monday as she claimed her prize at the lottery's regional office in Mason City.
The 48-year-old said she had her winning ticket confirmed at Casey's and everyone there was happy for her.
"They've all wished, 'Congratulations,'" Bruce said.
Bruce said a portion of her winnings will be used to pay bills and she plans to save the rest.
The BIG Ticket is a $20 scratch game. More details about how to play this game, and number of prizes still up for grabs in it can be found on the Iowa Lottery's website, www.ialottery.com.
