A 40-year-old woman who plays the Lottery with her husband and dreamed of “winning big” can finally say her dream has become a reality. The lucky player, who wishes to remain anonymous, scratched her way to a top prize of $100,000 playing the Delaware Lottery’s Instant Game, Cash Reserve. The winner purchased two tickets—including the winning ticket—at Bodie’s Dairy Market in Selbyville, Delaware.
The woman told Lottery officials she typically likes to purchase games with a 2, 4 or 8 on the ticket number in the pack—and her strategy paid off. On the day of the lucky purchase, the woman returned to her car and scratched off the ticket. To her surprise, the numbers matched, and she returned to the store to confirm her win.
“My family is super-excited and very thankful for the prize money, especially since we plan to use it on a down payment for a house,” said the winner. “This is going to change my life a lot and make things so much easier!”
The winner claimed the $100,000 prize at Delaware Lottery headquarters in Dover on Thursday, July 13.
