An Arizona Lottery player purchased a winning ticket in west Phoenix for the $8.4 million The Pick jackpot drawing held on Sat., May 7. The jackpot, which had been rolling for nearly seven months, was the largest The Pick jackpot in more than six years.  The winning ticket was purchased at the Fry’s Marketplace located at 8325 W. Indian School Road in Phoenix.

It matched all six The Pick numbers, which were 2-12-28-29-32-34. The winner has the option of choosing a 30-year annuity prize of $8.4 million, which would be paid in annual installments of more than $282,000 each, or of taking a lump sum payment of $5.5 million before taxes. 

“It’s always exciting to dream about what you could do with a life-changing jackpot like this one,” said Arizona Lottery Executive Director Gregg Edgar. “Even better, is knowing that the quality of life for thousands of people is being enhanced by the more than $3.5 million the Lottery generates for beneficiaries throughout Arizona each week.”   There are four ways to win in The Pick game from the purchase of a single, $1 ticket, with three cash prizes ranging from $3 to $2,000 and the jackpot starting at $1 million. In addition to the jackpot, more than 12,000 players won cash prizes in the Sat., May 7 drawing, including 15 players who won $2,000 each.  The Pick jackpot will reset to $1 million for its Wed., May 11 drawing. More than $64 million was transferred to state Lottery beneficiaries in April as a result of Arizona Lottery sales from January through March of 2016. To date, the Arizona Lottery has provided more than $145.3 million to beneficiary organizations statewide during the first nine months of the current fiscal year. The Arizona Lottery benefits Arts and Education, Community Enrichment, Economic Development, Environmental Conservation, Health and Human Services, and Public Safety programs throughout the state.

The Arizona Lottery advises players to sign their tickets immediately and check them as soon as possible to avoid missing out on any prizes they may have won.
