A 60-year-old retiree from Newark, Delaware, won a top prize of $50,000 playing the Delaware Lottery’s Instant Game, Mega Bucks. The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased the lucky ticket at Liquor Zone in Newark, Delaware.
“I don’t have the best vision and wasn’t sure if my eyes were playing tricks on me,” said the winner. The man told Lottery officials he immediately went back into the store so that the clerk could scan the ticket and verify it for him.
When asked about his initial reaction upon hearing he was a winner, he said, “I was extremely excited and will continue to try my luck again with the Delaware Lottery!”
The winner told Lottery officials he’s always had his eye on classic cars and plans to finally purchase a 1959 El Camino truck in blue, which he has dreamed about owning since he was a young boy. He will put the remainder of his winnings into his savings account and toward bills.
The winner claimed his top prize at Lottery Headquarters in Dover on May 11, 2016.
