While no one in California hit the huge $429.6 million Powerballjackpot last night, one lucky player in our state did match five of six numbers to win $1,299,421.
The winning ticket was sold at Cask & Flask located at 14520 Camden Avenue in San Jose. That ticket matched the following numbers: 25-66-44-5-26, missing only thePowerball number 9. And get this – the retailer is a winner too. The owner of the store will be receiving a $6,497 bonus check just for selling the winning ticket. (The bonus comes from a separate fund, so it’s not subtracted from the winner’s prize!)
The California Lottery urges last night’s winner to sign the back of their ticket in ink, keep it in a safe place and visit any of the nine Lottery District Offices as soon as possible. The winner has 180 days from the date of their draw to claim their prize.
The Powerball jackpot will reset at $40 million for Wednesday’s draw after a ticket in New Jersey matched all six numbers last night.
Powerball is a multistate game played in 44 states (plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Draw times are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7:59 p.m. PST. Ticket sales are suspended from 7:00 p.m. to 7:05 p.m. the day of the draw. Tickets are $2 and can be purchased from any of the 22,000 California Lottery retailers or one of the more than 4,000 Lottery Lucky Retailers. Please visit the California Lottery’s Powerball site for more information on how to play.
